Heating up in IOWA!!!!
Well i went out this morning and set up my Summit Viper X5 in a tree that i had already hunted once so it was all trimmed up good, i was set up 45 minutes before light. 10 minutes after first light i had to deer come running my direction, and i thought i better stand up there might be a buck. Sure enough, a 1 1/2 year old buck comes down the trail, not really chasing like he wanted to mount her but just following close behind. they wondered out of sight, and to my right i heard something crunching in the leaves. Looked up to see a 3 1/2 year old 10 pointer, so i stood up again and had him at 15 yards quarting away slightly, and i let him walk. I figured that he would go between 125"-135" I dont know why i let him go, i just said to myself it is too early yet, and let him walk on. Then about 30 minutes later, here he comes again. At this point i was thinking oh my god, i have to shoot him, and ended up letting him walk again[&o]. I dont know, i am just holding off for the big one that i spotted about a week ago. But he will probably never show up again.
P.S. The summit viper rocked, i was so happy i was about 25 feet up in the tree, and i wasn't scared at all, this thing is darn stable. |

That's the way you get a bigger buck. Letting the smaller ones go. Keep doing that and someday you will get your reward.

RE: Heating up in IOWA!!!!
I'll be back in Iowa hunting on Sunday!I already have 4 in the freezer from BP season and the one I shot last Sunday with my bow.
I am going to hold out for a wallhanger with my any sex bow tag. I also have an anterless tag to fill. |
