Morning or Evening hunt???

I personally like evening hunting. I hate crashing around in the woods when it's still dark trying to find my stand or a good tree to put it in. The deer are usually aready there(in woods) and snort, spook there gone. I like to get out around two and find the thickest, thicket in the woods and set up right near it, try to find oaks(w/ acorns). I think acorns are a deers favorite food. And since you didn't crash around there in the morning the deer won't be scared to come out early with plenty of time to shoot.
Good Luck!!

I like to hunt both evenings and mornings, but prefer to harvest an animal in the evening. Tracking and finding the animal is a lot harder after dark but once you find the game. You have all night to take care of the meat. On elk it takes me several hours to break it down and get it hung in a tree up and away from coyotes. During the day bugs and heat become a problem. On elk you take care of it where it lies, unlike deer you can drag into the shade of a tree.
So evening hunts by far would be my pick

I have had the best luck hunting in the am. Yeah, sometimes it's frusterating trying to find your stand in the dark, but I always seem to have more activity in the morning hours. I haven't mastered the art of picking the best place to set up my stands, but it's probably because I don't do much pre-season scouting. Sometimes, I don't find land to hunt on untill right before the season starts. I'm still new to hunting, but I'm trying to figure things out. Good luck.

I THINK I HAVE TAKEN MORE DEER IN THE EVENINGS BUT MOST OF MY BUCKS HAVE BEEN HARVESTED IN THE MORNINGS ... I'M LIKE YOU IN THAT I DO NOT LIKE STOMPING THROUGH THE WOODS IN THE DARK ..TRIPPING OVER STUMPS ...FALLING THROUGH BRIARS ...SO NOW I JUST USE SOME MARKERS THAT I MAKE THAT HELP GET ME TO MY STAND ... I JUST TAKE WOODEN CLOSE PENS AND PUT REFLECTIVE TAPE ON THEM ...HANG THEM ON THE BUSHES MARKING THE WAY TO MY STAND ... ONCE I HAVE FINISHED HUNTING THAT AREA I JUST TAKE THEM DOWN AND USE THEM AGAIN ... ITS A LOT CHEAPER THEN USING BRIGHT EYES AND WORK JUST AS WELL ....

I hate waking up, but I prefer the morning. The shooting light is only getting better. You have lots of time to track deer. If you don't see anything you feel you have the rest of the day to see something. There's just something sad and final about the evening hunt.

How come there's no mid-day hunt choice? LOL.

I got a remote tree stand locator off ebay for 9.95 it does the trick for finding your stand. Remote works up to 300 yards.

I hunt both, but have had more luck in the evenings.4 out of 5 of my biggest were in the evening. If I could figure out morning hunts I would do better.I usually hunt thick stuff in the morning.Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Our deer are usually bedded by daylight.Food is abundant. So how do you weed out the bad spots, before you hunt them?

What's up!! I got out today around 2:00 to do some scouting/squirrel/late season dove hunting. I had two tree rats bagged and wouldn't you know I creeped up on an 8 or 9 pointer. Nice buck, I freaked out and couldn't decide wether to run back to the truck to get my crossbow. After sizeing up the buck I watched him rub some sapplings and eat some acorns, not a care in the world. Then for kicks I tried to close the distance and got about 30 yards before he spooked. I hope he makes it to next season, I can't believe he didn't really care about me blasten tree rats with the 12 gauge.

I've killed more deer in the night hunt, but hate tracking in the dark. Nothing beats a morning in the woods during peak rut though.
