Rutting Bucks--Need Advice!!!

Will Rutting bucks (Big Bucks) run deep in the timber or mostly stick to field edges??? What is your experience with Big Bucks????

They will come right out into open fields during the rut. Hunt where you have been seeing does regularly.

i always hunt about 50 yards into the woods from a field edge because bucks rarley ever go in the fields.

Find his bedding area!! A thicket, set up on the edge of it, the field side, where it kind of opens up a little, this is his stageing area and he'll be there until dark then he'll go to the field. His does will be her also, so don't shot the does, use them as decoys!!

If big bucks were predictable everyone would have one on the wall. It's hard to tell where they will show up. In the rut they can be anywhere at anytime but I like to hunt near feeding and bedding areas that a lot of does will be.

Your greatest and easiestchance will be where the does are. Just like everyone said.

This subject is as wide spread in opinions as there are deer on the planet. I'm no expert, but from my experience, doe staging areas, holding timber between bedding and feeding are great places to set up. I have seen bucks in the middle of the afternoon in peak rut running an open hay field in circles nose to the ground after a doe. Funny critters when they get love struck.

Find the does and you will find the bucks. FYI, I shot a 12pt 140 class buck last year while hunting a picked corn field, and I seen plenty of other deer cross that field in daylight. When it comes to Rut I think they could care less, one thing is on their mind and it is not whether the field looks safe or not.
