Another season...Another trashed 3-D Target...

Well, the rut must be about to kick in in Arkansas. Mom said when she got home from church this morning she noticed that my 3-D buck shooting target was in pieces and on the ground again.

This will be the 3rd year in a row that a deer has ripped my targets head off. It's got gouges and holes all over its head and neck. You think that they would learn, especially after the target is just standing there and not fighting back.

Maybe I should put my gamecam aimed at it next year. Any of you guys have this happen to your bow target? It is...to say the least...kinda humorous.

it's actually kinda cool to have deer come in to your target but i'm sure it's gonna get expensive...the trail cam sounds like a great idea.

That would be the easiest decision of my life. I'd either get in a tree near the target or set a blind up and wait.

Pretty safe to say that it's happening at night, right?

Yes! My dad has one of those ornamental lawn deer in his back yard near our hunting woods. It's been up for three years. Yesterday the thing was knocked over, the ears were chewed off, and the head was all crushed in. The ground was all chewed up with tracks. We think it was a big buck based on the tracks. This makes me think deer decoys might be a good strategy....

If you can bowhunt where you live, I would just set up right by the target, and wait for him to come in. Good luck!

Yes it is happening at night. And there's just something about me setting up to hunt 60 yards from the front door of my house...

Even if I could, I wouldn't because if I hunt, I at least wanna be out of seeing distance of my house.

Nubowhntr, I live in Russellville. I actually lived in Conway for two years for school. G-Dawg is in Conway for school and comes home to Russellville on the weekends. Where are you hunting? Small world ain' it. Feel free to PM me anytime.

Hey Froman I just had the same problem with my 3Da few weeks ago.
I had gone up to my friends property a couple of weeks ago and set my
3D up the day before in front of my buddies stand just to mess with him.
The next morning we arrive before daylight. He starts glassing the clover plot in front of him and only sees a leg. The rest of the deer was gone. We found the head about 100yds away and never found the body. We think it may have been one of the bears that has been trashing feeders and trail cams lately. Who knows after reading your post it may have been a nice big ol' buck! I am from Russellville also.
