in what order will deer eat these?

where I am at, we have alot of oaks, and not much farm land. in what order do deer prefer their acorns?
white, red, black, pin, chestnut

I believe white are first, and pin last. help me here and fill in the gaps. most of the white oaks have dropped here and I have found a spot with I believe black or pin acorns on the ground. thanks.

Both Bob and David are correct. Deer will most always eat the white acorns first. Reason being, IMO, is that the white acorn is meatier and not as bitter tasting as the red. If you can find a persimmon tree near by, hunt that first especially when they start dropping...

Yea, I believe they are less acidic and that makes them less bitter.

In general white oaks produce acorns that deer like the best BUT that dosn't mean deer won't eat the others if they have access to all of them. A lot of variables could affet which set of acorns a deer picks such as hunting preasure, other forage animals in the area such as bear, turkeys, boar, etc, amount of cove, etc......I think you get the idea. If you happen to find one area dropping earlier this is a hot spot & if you find one with a massive crop that could affect how deer make choose which acorns they go after. In general the white oaks are always a hot spot...just keep all your options open!
