I don't post much, and I'm not on anyone's team, but I thought
I would post a picture of the buck I got Monday evening.

I don't have a scale, but I would guess around 180 field dressed. He was
pretty solid, and lots of fat.

Yea he had his nose up a hot does tail.. The doe had been running around being chased by a couple of small bucks, until this guy showed up and chased them off.

Thanks for the congrats. I'm pretty happy with him. This is probably the best buck I have gotten with my bow. And the place I got him is not the
best place to hunt bucks. It's in town and close to work, so I can get out
after work and hunt. I usually use it to fill my doe tags. Most of the bucks
I see there are small, or have some messed up racks. Lots of bad genetics.

When you say "in town", you talking about jeff city? A few years ago, Jake had a pair of sheds someone found on the east side of Jeff, talk about nice... My brother said there are some nice ones around the land fill.

Great deer, Gollie what a deer. Wish that i could bag a buck like that, but give it time and many hours in the stand and sooner or later all my paience and hard work will pay off. Congrats.

I wasn't going to have him mounted, but these three

Well the hunting spot I got him is in town; not the best place for bucks but lots of does. One of the main reasons I hunt it is because I can get
some stand time in after work. Got in my stand about 5:30pm. Hadn't been
in the stand very long when I heard something behind me. Looked and saw
a doe standing there taking a piss. Blew my grunt call a few times to see
if anything was following her. She moved off alongthe ridge, and sure enough here comes this little 6 pointer. He milled around for a bit looking for whatever had been grunting, and checking out where the doe had been. He finally dropped back down off the ridge, but didn't follow the doe. About a half hour later I hear something coming from the way the
doe had gone. Here she came at a pretty good trot. I blew my grunt call
again, figuring something was on her tail. Sure enough here comes this little spike. He stops behind me, and keeps looking down the ridge the
way the little 6 pointer went. I figure he either sees him or smells him. The doe has stopped running, is standing there like she wants to be chased some more, and up out of the gully comes my 8 pointer. The spike just
kind of disapears. I've got this 8 pointer behind me and to the left, just where I want him, don't even have to stand up, just turn, draw and shoot.
The doe had started to run off, down the hill, he started to follow. He was
headed downhill so his front end was lower than his rear, and he reacted to the sound of me releasing the arrow by dropping some. Arrow went in
at the back of the ribs and buried into his spine. He dropped like a rock.
I have never spine hit a deer, and that was not the intention, but it sure worked; by the time I lowered my bow to the ground he was dead. I had him field dressed and was back to the truck, headed home to get the four wheeler by 6:45
