Need tips for tracking deer with minimal blood trail

I shot a deer at quarter away from a tree stand this morning. The arrow went in good but I think it stuck in the shoulder blade/socket and made no hole on the exit side. I saw it run with the arrow in it for about 100 yards. Since there was no exit wound and the arrow was still in it I found very little blood. I had to walk about 100 yards before I found 3 specks of blood and could find no more. I followed all the trails that I could imagine he might take but no blood or sign of him.

I hate this because it went in good (one or two lungs I'm guessing) but it just hit the shoulder. He saw me shoot him and high tailed it out of sight so i'm worried he might have went a good ways on adrenaline (how far with one lung?). Does anybody have any tips for finding this guy?

You will just have to canvas the area if there is absolutely no blood.Check all the water holes, and creeks.Try,and do a grid pattern,or walk small circles, then make them wider. If you have a trail dog that would be great. The only deer I ever lost was a 1/4 away shoulder shot.I looked at every water hole, every creek, every thicket, behind every log.I knew the area real good.I searched within a 1/2 mile radius.I never found the deer.No buzzards either.I feel like I didn't hit anything vital.I hope you find him,but if you don't hopefully he will recover. My buck ran backwards to go back where he came from.Went into a fallen tree, broke the arrow.I got 21" of penetration. He ran 100yds,then limped out of sight never to be seen again.I still remember it like it was yesterday, and it was 5 years ago. This is what makes even great bowhunters better.I'm sorryyou are experiencing it.
