My theory

Let me preface my post by saying that I don't put too much stock in moon phases, but I see a correlation that MAY be helpful to someone, somewhere, someday, possibly . . .

Most of us know that bright, full moonlit nights aren't conducive to morning hunts--the exception being the rut. When there is a full moon, the moonrise takes place at the same time as the sunset and the moon sets at sunrise. This is when the moon is right on the horizon and the "moon" theory says that deer don't move much when the moon is there. Conversely, the middle of the day is supposed to be the best time to hunt during the full moon--right when it's overhead (actually underfoot) like the moon theory assumes.

This brings me to my point.

New moons are usually one of the best times to hunt, but the moon will still be at the horizon at sunrise/set. Is the middle of the day during a new moon the best possible time to be in the woods? Next week on Nov. 3rd is the next new moon. Guess who's gonna be out there all day and all the days near it?

Sounds good Dave and guess who else will be out there. I have the next two weeks off work and looking for some payback on one particular animal.

Yup, I think it will be a good combination. I'll be out there!

Rob--I have the next three weeks off and hope to re-encounter the monster I had at 15 yards back in Sept!
