3 blade or 4 blade
 

I shot Muzzy 3 blades this year but i was wondering if i should try the 4 blades or stick with the 3's. I heard that with the 4's you could get better penetration but i don't know if i want to get rid of the cutting diameter. Please tell me what you use or suggest.

From what I've read, 4 blades will typically get less penetration than 3 blades.

More blades = more surface area = more friction as it passes through flesh.

I shoot four blades because that happens to be the first pack of Muzzys that I bought. I just stuck with them.

Four blade will drop faster! I don't think it really matters just hit him where it counts!!!

I would go with a 3 blade no matter what brand I was using.

I've shot both 3 and 4 blad muzzy's as well as 4 blade heads in other brands. Both heads provide excellent penetration, however, if your bow is not tuned correctly penetration will be affected. Cutting diameter is a small issue to me. I prefer the 4-blades in everything I shoot because more blades = more sutting surface = more tissue damage.I also like a more small profile head. Good luck.

I have used them both and I get better flight with the 4 blade. I hear people say one penetrates better or one cuts better and I think that's a bunch of bull. If both are sharp and shot from a well tuned bow you will not tell any difference on a deer. Just shoot the one you get the best flight with and you'll do fine with either.

Either will work. For what its worth, John Muz has said that most people at Muzzy shoot 4 blades.

Boith are great broadheads. when your talkign about the 100 grain version in either styke I don't think it much matters if it's 4 or 3 blade. I have used both & most of the time I like the 3 blade better. If I was going to shoot a Muzzy 4 blade for more cutting area it would not be the 100 grain model but instead it would be the 115 or 130 grain heads. I really like that 130 grain head. I wouldn't worry about it & I would shoot what you have. As far as penetration you won't notice any difference on deer sized animals.
