How Soon to Hunt Same Spot
Last Wednesday I played hookie from work. Heck, I am never sick so might as well take advantage of the sick time as you either use them or lose them. So, nailed a nice deer last Wednesday right before dusk. If anyone read my post, I got the deer as I was in the middle of climbing down my tree! Anyways, I haven't returned to that spot since last Wednesday, but will be back out this Friday as I have a vacation day planned and will also hunt Saturday, too. Question is will it be too soon to return to that same area or should I leave it alone a bit longer and hunt another location? I'm tempted to hunt from the same tree as it provided great cover and it was right in the middle where the deer migrate thru. Thoughts?

RE: How Soon to Hunt Same Spot
From my experiences, I would say you are good, as long as everything is in your favor, ie, wind, etc. Make sure to use your cover scents as well.
I have had lots of luck hunting stands 2 days in a row, I am just as careful as ever to leave as little scent as possible. |

I don't think it matters. Your scent should be gone by now, plus new bucks will be crusing through because of the rut. Good Luck!

Where did you field dress the deer? Around here anyway, that will atract Coyotes for a few days, and will keep deer away. I have learned to drag the deer well away from my hunting area before gutting them for that reason.

RE: How Soon to Hunt Same Spot
Last friday morning 10/21 my buddy killed a nice 10 point. The next evening Sat 10/23 I killed my 15 point.Same stand. On another time I killed a big doe in the evening and a nice 10 point the following morning.Same stand. When the rut is on the rules change. Also I only put my stands at tight bottle necks so if deer come thru they have to pass me.
