Help, did I do the right thing or not?
Last night I went out to my woods to put up an new stand. As I entered the woods I decided to go check one of my favorite areas to hunt in the woods. Every year a stand has been in this tree that I walk by and I say to myself wow! that looks like a sweet spot. Its a lone treebetweentwo bedding areas, and on both sides of it aretwo bigwood lots. But as I walked by it this year there was so stand there. It's now October 26th so I decided to put my stand up in the tree thinking the guy gave up on the spot or he just doesn't hunt there anymore. Im kinda woried because I don't want to piss anyone off.I would haveput my stand inonther tree butlikeI said It is a lone tree and the only on in the area that you can put a stand in. Should I have not done this?

It's private and a lot of people hunt the property.

If it's private and you have permission and it's this late in the season...I don't see a problem with what you've done....just be polite because that's what we expect from others.

RE: Help, did I do the right thing or not?
I don't see anything wrong with putting a stand there at all.
But it could become a problem, especially if the person who usually has a stand there still intends to and that person happens to be an a$$. If you have any sort of relationship with the owner or other folks who hunt the land, you might want to have a chat with them and bring the subject up. Something like, "just wanted you to know I have/haven't seen any yet and by the way, there's this tree I've had my eye on........." |

If possible I would ask the owner if he if the guy stopped hunting there
