Good Morning,
Let me preface this with a reminder that I am new to bowhunting. Have only been shooting for a couple of weeks. Remember the other day when there was a poll about forgetting your release? Whether to hunt with fingers or not. I thought to myself, "Man, what kind of idiot bow hunter forgets his relesase." I mean, MY GOD MAN, that is what we do. Yesterday I had my wife take me the woods and drop me off because our ATV was in the shop. To say the least interuptingOprah was not a good idea. I finally get to the woods, get my climber situated, hang my bow, put my baclava on and get reasy to settle in and guess what! THats right 'NO FRIGGIN RELEASE". THen I suddnely remeber how I thought what an "idiot" someone was to forget thier release. After brooding for about 30 minutes I hear the snap and crackle of leaves and look behaind me. There he is! Not the HARTFORD or anyhting like that but a shooter buck for sure. He only walks about 20 yards from my stand, stops ( I can almost see him laughing) looks around and walks away. I might should have taken a shot but was way to uncomfortable shooting with fingers and I did not want to spook him. To make matters worse as it starts to get dark, I pack up, start back towards the road and call my wife to come get me. Guess what? The reply I get is "Oh Crap, Is it that late. Im in town at the grocery store. I'll be home in thirty minutes." It is then I start my three mile trek back home thinking the whole time "KARMA, Aint it a BI_ch!" |
RE: Karma
happens to alot of people.
In fact it almost happened to me except i noticed it before getting into the woods. I tie mine around my bow handle so when i pick up my bow to get going if it's not there i notice. I also keep another in my bag now. I forgot the bullets on a gun hunt once. Since I don't load them into the gun until I get to my spot. fortunatly they were in my shooting bag in my vehicle so the 300 yard walk back was not terrible |
RE: Karma
It happens to the best of us man. I have just resently started useung a release. So when i forgot mine i was comfortable enough to shoot with my fingers. Just try shooting ur bow some with ur fingers to get the hang of it.

RE: Karma
Well, yes but after the second time I forgot my release I bought two more. I have 2 in my pack and one in the case. So far it has worked, When I target shoot. I do not have to take my release out of my pack. I have been a moron in the past, but if somehow I forgot my release and I not have 3 of them. I will bring new meaning to the word moron!!!
