Does it matter...

if I lock my climbing stand onto a tree the day before (or a couple days) I plan to hunt an area? If I'm over at the farm doing some work, I'll move my stand somewhere I plan to hunt the next time around, and leave it there locked to the base of the tree. Sometimes, I will get down in the morning, take my stand somewhere else, then leave and come back that night. Is there anything wrong with this practice?

It's your stand , you can move it anytime you want .

I was asking more along the lines of being in an area too much (over-contaminating) or possibly spooking something the night beforeI hunt an area in the morning.

If I were you at this point in time, I'd put up the stand the day I plan on hunting from it. Catch them by suprize. I've had some good success doing that.

I've always packed my climber into and out of the woods with me after every hunt. By doing this I can basically "pop-up" out of nowhere and deer never really have a chance to figure out my routine.
