question about bowhunting grouse

3 days ago i went for a drive and all i was seeing is grouse and i decided to take a shot at one with one of my practise arrows.so i shot and killed it instantly so i thought i would do it more often since it seemed easy so the next day i seen another one and i shot it except this time it flew but i know i hit it. well i was pondering on what happened about 40 yards in the timber i could hear it on the ground and i went over there and it was dead.today same thing happened when i shot it flew away so i went were it was and there was feathers on the ground but i could not find it. is there a special grouse tip out there that i can buy to help kill them instintly and stop the arrow from passingthrew?

RE: question about bowhunting grouse

All of my friends that I elk hunt with, myself included, carry a judo tipped arrow just for grouse. The judo point will not garauntee that the arrow doesn't go all the way through, BUT it does kill them pretty much spot on, and you usually find the arrow not far away. The only other thing a guy could do, is put flu flu feathers on that same arrow to make it easier to see and keep it from going as far if it does pass through. Those judo points are dang hard to ruin too, two of them will last a long time, as long as you don't loose them. I shoot all kinds of small game with them, squirrel, rabbit, prairie dog, etc!
