I smoke when I shotgun hunt and have killed alot of deer at 50 yards and less.I put the butts in a small glass jar with a little water in it and then put the cap on.I think your going to be busted by hand movement more than the smell.This is my first year bowhunting and I'm going to try nicotine gum.

wow! ive learned alot,,,,,, im a smoker but i chew skol in the stand and spit in a bottle and store it away,,,,, i quess its all dumb luck?/?

I smoke and some time in the stand and I have a wall full of P&Y bucks from 130 to 168. If they smell your smoke they have all ready smelled you. I have a buddy that I have hunted with for 30 year are more and he smoke a lot more than me and you should see his bucks he has killed he has a ton of P&Yers but, he could put a stand up in the middle of a WAL-MART parking lot and he will kill a P&Yer.

I've shot a several deer over the years while smoking, including a nice 10 pt, just after putting out a smoke. But he was chasing a doe for some action. But I've also been busted by deer while in my stands, I don't know if it was human scent or the smoke. I hunt in a cedar swamp and couldn't see the deer but heard it's blows.
My son just shot a nice 7 pt on the opener last week in Michigan, and was smoking when he heard his deer walking in to his area.

I dont smoke or chew, and dont like to hunt nearby anyone that does. But my Uncle smokes in his stand and has taken many deer.

My brother in law and nephew seem to have no trouble smoking while hunting..although I must say you better be careful doing that in some states where they have drought conditions..Like here in utah you cant be smoking outside of your vehicle.

yes i remember know, it was a week before opening day, i just built this nice big wooden stand, me and a friend were in the stand and i was smoking and a nice 8 pt walked right up and stood broadside 20 yards and we had no cammo nothing and he never seen us! he came back again and i shot at him but hit a limb and snapped my arrow, i never seen him after that! oh well! great info though guys!! my biggest is a six that came w/ the wind so he didnt smell me?? i quess we will see,,

I haven't smoked for about 6yrs now, but have bow killed deer while smoking.
