Got me a doe!

Well I went back to that spot this morning where I had those 2 deer come under my stand to the vanilla scented leaves last night. I was playing w/ the turkeys again and looking thru my binos to see if I could see a bird. I look down and see a doe coming to my stand right before 8AM. I had bleated about 5 mins earlier. She got behind 2 skinny trees at about 10 yrds away. I put the pin between the 2 trees and pulled the trigger. She took off and then I saw her mom and sister take off. This was my first kill from a treestand and my first shot at a live animal from one too. She jetted off about 50 yrds and fell down and kicked a couple times and passed. I could see where she lay so I took out John Trout's 'Trailing Whitetails' and picked up where I had left off, just to pass time. She was small. I shot her thru the top part of the stomach and hit one lung. Farther back than I wanted but I didnt want to take a chance and hit the tree. It felt right and felt damn good to pick up my first real bow kill. My arrow is in perfect shape and was sticking in the ground. I took pics but dont have the cable w/ me to put on my PC. Ill post a pic in a few days. Now I see why some of you use a bow during rifle season. Its the coolest experience!!!

Congrats on the deer . I was able to harvest a doe last week Friday here . I now can either shoot another doe or shoot a buck . Not sure what I wanna shoot next . I shot my doe at 12 yards and she went 50 yards and dropped in a soybean field .;):D:)

When we shoot deer they don't pass.... they just drop dead.[8D][8D]
Congrats on the deer.

I too took a trophy Whitetail Doe the third week of September. It was a heart shot that smashedthrough her Right Front leg bone, through her heart and out the other side. [8D]She too went about 50 yards but the amazing thing though was at 50 yards, there was a 5 foot high rail fence. [:o]. . she cleared that fence and tumbled another 10 yards to the edge of the river.

How she cleared that fence is beyond me.

First, congrats on the doe kill ducsause!!!

Deer are amazingly strong animals for their size. Could you imagine even walking 10 feetafter an arrowjust went through your heart?

Thanks for all the replies guys! Im going in the morning and will shoot another doe if I get the chance. Then I will definetly wait on a buck. Buck or doe, its great hunting! I can't bowhunt in VA with a bow during rifle season so that sucks. I was thinking about doing that. Its only a couple weeks that I'll be bowless. Good luck to ya'll.

Ahhhhh.... there isn't any such thing as a "Trophy Doe". There's just little, So-So and big. How do you classify a doe as a Trophy Doe, measure her nipples or her tail length?[8D]
