Air Direction ?

I am a recently married man "of a whole two weeks" . I used to race motocross and recently with children and family have decided to start hunting. I have been hunting only one time prior to this year "which was last year" NW Ohio gun season. I am bowhunting this season and very dedicated and passionate at it at that. I have read two books and watched numerous videos . I'm still confused on wind direction.
You want to be downwind , but it is also stated that deer are not fond of walking downwind , as they are not able to wind anything ?

I ask because i am trying to select my best spot for my stand ?>.......
REALLY APPRECIATE SOME GOOD OLD FASHIONED EXPIERIENCE TO GO OFF OF .
THANK YOU

RE: Air Direction ?

Deer try to be downwind of something that they know is there. For example, if you were using rattling antlers or a bleat call then the deer might move downwind to check to see what is making the call.

You want to try to hunt downwind of where you expect the deer to come from. In many instances you might actually pick out two trees...one on each side of a trail so that regardless of the wind condition you can hunt it.

If that were the case they would have to circle the globe.:D:DDeer do use the wind to their advantage ofcourse. But they also have clear travel routes. Your job is to put yourself on that travel route so the deer don,t wind you as they come thru. The best teacher will be you as you learn to hunt them. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
