Butchering Knives,

Since I'm going to attempt butchering my own deer (If I'm lucky enough to get one). I'm wondering what kind of boning knife to get. I'm going to debone all of it. Is a 6" blade best? Also, Should the blade be flexible or semi flexible? Thanks all.

RE: Butchering Knives,

Go to Wallyworld and get you the 6" Rapala filet knife. It is all you will need to bone your deer out. That's what I use. Plus it only runs about 8 dollars.

RE: Butchering Knives,

Or you could just go for the gold now and just get a kit for the entire process. Some of my relatives bought me a skinning/butchering set for me for Christmas last year. Comes complete with a gambrel, hoist, 5 knives and a saw (multiple blades). I think the cost is between $80 and $90 though I have not honestly looked lately. It definitely made butchering my deer a heck of alot easier.
