third time is a charm, or third shot
well, went to a new spot this evening that I had walked all over yesterday checking out. really didn't expect to see much if anything, but I figured it was worth a shot. I wasn't even set up and I had deer coming in. two button bucks that kept me company for awhile. then off to my right a good doe stepped out. she was nervous with a wind that really couldn't make up its mind. second time this year the wind has been squirrely for me. anyway, she settled down, and walked into my shooting lane. I couldn't get her to stop so I didn't shoot. she comes out to another lane, and I grunt (already at full draw) and compensate for her jumpiness and let it go. it hits home, just not the home I wanted. she dropped in her tracks. she dropped a full body width and went to whirl. I hit her high and forward, but it did the job. the deer I have had in range this year are especially jittery. anywho, good doe, saw four to five this pm. shot her about six ten. little ones second pic with a deer. she's in there for aestetics...lol
