Heads up to you all..
Probably known by most but if I can enlighten just one person.
Please be careful with screw in treesteps. Some of the steps have the threaded screw attached to the rest of the step with a rivet, so that the actuall screw in part folds up against the step. Last year one of these rivets broke on me whenI was almost into my stend and I luckily caught myself. Just this past weekend, I was removing steps from a tree and while putting pressure on the step to unscrew it, the rivet broke. I still use these steps but only as the first one of the ground, the rest of my steps are now the one solid piece design. Just a heads up that these rivetsCANBREAK ( I had multiple brands of these and multiple ones have broke) so please be careful and use the solid piece design. |
RE: Heads up to you all..
Had it happen to me as I was reattaching my safety line above a branch, went 18 feet down the tree. Hit another step with my arm and bruised it badly.
I through out everyone of them. Garbage. |
RE: Heads up to you all..
Thanks for the warning. I use the one piece kind only because they are cheeper. I guess being cheep paid off.

RE: Heads up to you all..
I use the one piece also.
The "Bark bit" to screw them in is a god send, when attatched to my dewalt. I'm a Vikes fan forever, even if they did get embarrassed! |

RE: Heads up to you all..
Screw them screw in steps, they are wortless, get yourself a good set of climbing sticks. They can be a pain but they are 100% more safe than then screw ins. Thats all I use.
