Copper John Eagle Releases

I am thinking about switching to this release.Do any of you use this release and what can you tell me about them? Give me pros and cons.

RE: Copper John Eagle Releases

I was having some trouble w/target panic and punching the trigger on my release last year so I switched over to an Eagle 3 finger this year. First impression was "How in the h%#! am I going to shoot with this thing?!?!!?" After 12 years of shooting a wrist-strap caliper release it certainly took some getting used to! However, once I got the hang of it and quit hitting the trigger while I was drawing my bow back I fell in love with it.

I have noticed myself flinching a few times over the course of the summer and not once have I managed to accidentally hit the trigger.

It has also allowed me to better experiment with using back tension to fire my bow and I have noticed a significant increase in my accuracy - especially down range.

My only problem w/the release is that it's a litle noisey when I'm clipping it onto my string, and when I shoot it there seems to be a slight reverberating buzz after the shot. Although I videotaped myself shooting last week so see if I could hear any of those noises on the tape and I couldn't. I think the only reason I hear the buzzing at all is b/c of the proximity of the release to my ear when I shoot.

Oh yeah - one other thing. When I draw w/this release I'm putting tension on my fingers instead of on my wrist/arm like with a conventional style release. I simply couldn't handle the weight I was shooting before so I had to back it down when I first got the release, but slowly worked my way back up to where I'm comfortable shooting mid 60 lbs-ish. My hand/fingers still tend to get a little tired after a long day of shooting, but when it comes down to hunting time I only need to make one shot so I don't worry about it. ;)

Overall, I think it's a great release and I'm not sure if I could go back to shooting a wrist-strap caliper style release now.

/end novel

Justin's novel is pretty much right on. I have tried both the 3 finger and two finger models on several occasions and always walk away impressed with them.
