Illinois Bowhunters

36 hours and counting. I've got it bad this year. Practice and Practice. Check my gear again and again. Scout stands and check cameras. My god saturday cannot get here fast enough:D

Opening moring plans are to hunt a 10 acre grove of mature white oaks Adjacent to a alfalfa and sweet clover field. Hopefully I'll have one in the truck by 9

What about the rest of us? What's planned for the weekend?

I'll be on public land in a tree line bordering a bean field, my plan is to sit there all day, if my backside can take it:). I've seen 3 huge bucks in this field on a regular basis I hope to get on them early before they get spooked out of the county!!

I wish I could be there. I have hunted Illinois for the past 5 years in Hancock County. Due to Illinois Greedy Politicians my Father and I won't be there nor anytime soon in the near future. I could get an Elk License cheaper than what the Archery tags have gone up to and will continue to go up. My Father and I have a lot of Great Memories there. I wish you all the best of luck. You will have 2 less hunters from PA to worry about.:(

I'm hunting on the edge of a soy bean field. behind me is about 60 acres of woods (20 is huntable for me) and a field edging one another side of the plot.

And then Sunday I'm going to try my luck on a 400 acre plot down the road from the other...

tick tock tick tock tick tock...

I heading up north to my spot today, my first stop is to check the cameras. Then a quick trip to the cabin to unload, and make the final checks on my bow to make sure it is dead nuts center. Then head into downtown lake city for all you can eat fish fry (best perch you can eat). Then it is bed time, have sweet buck dreams, and saturday morning I will be in my stand nice and early.

Sitting Opening weekend out for the first time in 8 years.

Honey-do's for me this weekend.

3 day weekend next weekend (first year we have Columbus Day off here at work due to how Christmas falls.)

Hope the weather report stays accurate for next weekend - another cold front - highs in middle 60's (instead of low 80's this weekend).

Good Luck fellow Illini and out-of-staters... make sure to bring your cameras and share the pictures next week!
