I've used the bedded Featherflex deer in both buck and doe combo's and the one thing I've learned is that all deer become alert to it...some spook but rarely do they come in range...that's been my experience.

Pros -- it may work and be very entertaining

Cons-- it may spook'em and that's not entertaining

Pros #2: They do work well just like a turkey decoy on occasion. A lot of people have had success with them.

Cons #2: A deer decoy on a crowded public land area?!?!? OMG, someone would shoot it (or possibly YOU!). Let's just say " "

Butch, I hunt mostly private land... I wouldn't even think about it "on a crowded public land area."

I bought the Carry-Lite decoy last year and hunted over it many times. I feel that it worked great. I never saw a deer react negatively to it, though some were perplexed as to why the decoy felt funny, when they would touch their nose to it. I know of at least 2 times when I brought deer in closer because my calling added to the decoy was too much for the deer to resist.

However, I did not have a buck come into the decoy. I did see bucks, and they did not appear spooked, I just couldn't convince them to come into range. Not sure if that was because of my calling, the decoy, or something else.

I will say this. use a TON of scent killer on the decoy, and try to handle it with rubber gloves only.

On two different hunts last year I shot does as they sniffed the nose of my carry-lite decoy. I also have several minutes of footage of a small buck grooming my decoy from nose to tail. I did not use it a lot and had no experience with a mature buck seeing it.Some evenings Iwould have 10-15 deer feeding within 50 yards of the decoy andI did not have anything spook from it.However, Ihad a buddy have bad experiences with does spooking from his. I used my decoy with the antlers and also left it outside on the farm where I was using it.
