CLIMBIBNG STICK SUGGESTIONS ANYONE ?
RobPABoyer made a suggestion to me that I try the climbing sticks..... I think I will but anyone use these ? What brand and what ya think ?? Thanks |
RE: CLIMBIBNG STICK SUGGESTIONS ANYONE ?
I have the Gorilla climbing sticks they are light 9lb for the 3 piece.
They are easy to put up and take down. The foot pegs can be swung to either side of the sticks. Each is 4 foot long and if spaced you can get up to 16 ft up the tree. They do have optional pieces you can buy. I just strap them to my stand to carry in and out. ![]() ![]() |
RE: CLIMBIBNG STICK SUGGESTIONS ANYONE ?
I bought a cheap ($40) set from Dicks Sporting Goods. Cabelas sells a very similar model. I think Hunters View made them. They worked very well for the most part. I wound up selling them along with a treestand I didn't care for though.
One thing I didn't like about them was that the footpegs were staggered. ie: you could only use the left foot or the right foot per step. I think I would prefer the kind that have pegs on each side allowing you to use either foot. The reason: if I wanted to pause while climbing, I had to rest on only one foot. The only other thing I didn't like was: the strap system holding the unit to the trees was just slightly cumbersome to use. -Mike |

I use these http://www.basspro-shops.com/servlet...rTarget=search
but saw a review of these http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...ype=index&rid= on TV the other day and I'm wanting to try them out. |
RE: CLIMBIBNG STICK SUGGESTIONS ANYONE ?
As you know, there are many types of climbing sticks out there. One of our hottest models, and with safety foremost in mind is Summit's Swifttree Pole Climber http://www.treestand.com/Merchant2/m..._Code=CS<br />

My set up is similar to Ausi-Guy's, but mine are LoneWolf sticks. Work well, would suggest you have the second line for using your harness like a lineman's belt, then the first line goes on top for when you are in your stand. The lineman's belt allows you to do stuff with your hands when you get up there.
