Large Zip Lock bags
A friend of mine from work said that he used large 2 1/2' X 2 1/2' zip lock bags for storing his hunting clothes, scent free, but couldn't remember who made them. Anyone know who makes these?

RE: Large Zip Lock bags
Gman,
For years I've been keeping my clothes in a big plastic tote with fresh earth scent wafers in it. The wafers are 6 years old & still smell great. I walk into my basement, get chaged with clothes out of tote, walk out my back door & hunt. Then i come back & take them off & right back in the tote. I'd go that route...its easy & works great! I believe Coleman does offer these bags.

RE: Large Zip Lock bags
Zip-Loc Brand makes them as well. I just picked up a box at Sam's here in Oklahoma. The size is XXL, I believe this is the size you quoted. They were cheap at Sam's, $7 for a box of 7.
Hope this helps. KB |
RE: Large Zip Lock bags
Duly noted - Coleman and Ziploc does make the bags. I keep all of my hunting clothes in them. An added advantage is that you can smoosh out all of the trapped air, and sorta "vacuum seal" everything, so it doesn't take up so much space.

RE: Large Zip Lock bags
You can buy a scent kit from Hunter's Specialties @ Wal-Mart for $20. Its comes with a bottle of the spray, laundy detergent, soap, deodarant, earth scent dryer sheets, and one of the bags you are talking about. Its a good deal if you need a couple of the other items as well.
EDIT: A buddy of mine stores his clothes in a similar manner and hesprinkles some baking soda in the bag and he said it will trap any odors that do get in. He has killed many deer and a couple wallhangers so I guess it works. Anyone else heard of this. |
RE: Large Zip Lock bags
I've been trying to find those bags and haven't had any luck. But I found a quilt bag(one with a zipper) the other night. I sprinkled some baking soda it in and stuck my clothes in there and inside a rubber maid box. The zipper isn't scent proof but I roll it up like a potatoe chip bag and put it in upside down. Should work.

RE: Large Zip Lock bags
Check the camping section at Wal Mart. You will find the Coleman bags there. Ziploc does make them as well. I keep my clothes in a 2 gallon ziploc bag. You could also try U-haul. They make all sorts of bags for packing.
