Whisker Biscut
anyone used/have it? how much arrow speed do you think you lose? and have you had any problems with it? is it worth the money?
|
RE: Whisker Biscut
Yes, not worth mentioning, no, and yes.:) It makes the plastic vanes wavy after a while. I went to helical feathers and they seem to be holding up quite well. I love mine. Used to have a Bodoodle pro which was a good rest but glad I went to the WB.

RE: Whisker Biscut
I was going to get one but I heard that they magnifyyour mistakes because your arrow is surrounded rather then just resting on a rest. Dont know if this is true or not but would like to know if it is if anyone knows for sure.

RE: Whisker Biscut
It's a great rest.
I too started to get some waves in thevanes but I readjusted it and even that seems to begone now. If you get good quality vanes (I don't but I will) it should not be a problem. I have noticed that the biscuit really likes the arrows at 90deg to the string, nice and level. I also noticed that the center shot must be perfectand the rest level too. It also seems to work the best with a perfect even tiller as well. After I readjusted it...well I actually took off the drop tine and put back on the originalmodel (the one with the straight bar)with the quick shot biscuit. I like that one the most because it has more of anadjustment range than either the drop-tine or Deluxemodels do. Plus it's much more compact and lighter than the other two. Anyway, I put the original back on and adjusted it for a perfect center shot and adjusted the height for a perfect level arrow and made sure the biscuit itself was not tilting. The bow was already set with an even tiller. I then paper tuned it and I had perfect bullet holes. I sighted it in again at 20, 30, and 40 yards and the arrows are flying perfect. Tested the G5 Montec broadheadsand they were right on. What I didn't notice was any more fletching wave. Like I said my vanes were starting to show signs of waving (not bad) but I shot at leastone hundered plus shots today and they did not get any worse. When I refletch I will go with either the Flex Fletch or Vane-tec V-Max vanes. The most important thing though is getting it set up right. I did it myself and it took me about 20min from the installation of the rest to the first arrow through paper. If you do that you will really enjoy this rest. The best thing about it is once it's set....it's set. No more adjustment will be needed. One less thing to worry about. You will lose about 1-3 fps (not much at all) just make sure the arrow has room in the rest. You should see some light around 3/4 of the arrow, there is a guide on the back of the packaging showing how it should look. I have noticed absolutely no difference in accuracy from when I used other rests in the past. It is well worth the money and IMO the best hunting rest on the market today. |
RE: Whisker Biscut
I use it and I probably always will. I had a few problems with arrows falling off of my rest when drawing back in a tree stand, so I decided to try this out. In my opinion, I don't think it affects your arrow flight or speed at all.

RE: Whisker Biscut
i have used one i like it . i think they are great for hunting. if you have vane problems such as wavy vanes or tearing try using less helical they recomend straight . or go with some of the other guys and use feathers. but all in all the positives out weigh the negatives.

RE: Whisker Biscut
I have one and love it....Yes you will lose some arrow speed but not much....One of the new hunting mags(Bow and Arrow Hunting)I got says use the new Bohning Blazers with the WB and you get virtually zero loss of speed...!!!??? Something to try.. Best rest I've had...Makes Stalking easier......I shoot 40yds no problem....

RE: Whisker Biscut
If you are using it for hunting then its a no brainer. You wont notice any speed loss unless you shoot deer through a chronograph. I have had some vanes become wavy also but thats after shooting lots and lots of arrows but they are cheap to replace/fix. I keep 4 arrows aside strictly for hunting. I use older arrows for target practice.

RE: Whisker Biscut
i've been thinking about putting one on my bow after this year, everyone seems to like theirs.

RE: Whisker Biscut
I USED to have one, practiced all summer long with it and loved it, until one October evening. It was one of those cool, about freezing, evenings with no wind and very still. I had a doe coming towards me and I drew on her at about 40 yards and the arrow coming through that biscuit sounded like finger nails on a chalkboard. Needless to say she was gone. I suspect it made noise all summer long that I never noticed until that still, quiet evening. I also thought maybe the cold stiffened the bristles. Anyway I tried calling Carolina Archery Products to see why it was doing this and what I could do and they never returned phone calls. The rest came off the next day.

RE: Whisker Biscut
i love mine. a straight helical is bestfor the wb.a small dab of fletch tite at the front of your vanes will take care of fletching ripping off.nobody really knows if you lose any speed with a wb because the is no real way to check, for every bow will shoot different, even identical bows with identical ascessories will shoot different.

RE: Whisker Biscut
MNpurple, there is a spay on the market for the wb that will take care of that.i used it in dec. here in the u.p. late bow season we usually have a foot or two of snow.the spray works great.

RE: Whisker Biscut
I use the Wisker Biscut and love it! It's for sureyou'll get wavy vanes on some arrows including my Easton shafts but my accuracy does not suffer. The fellow at my archery shop saidif you watch an arrow on release, in slow motion you can see the vanes get wavy naturally! I've noticed that if you rotate your nock so the cock feather is up you will get the proper clearance for your vanes going through the Biscut. This is important! I would'nt hunt with any other.

RE: Whisker Biscut
I haven't had any real problems with mine. Get the delux (sp?) model so you can adjust it in all directions. That makes it really easy to tune. I've got mine to shoot b-head out to 40 yds just like my field points.
I didn't notice any negligible loss of speed and I haven't had any problems with it. |
RE: Whisker Biscut
Love the concept, but hate the Biscuit. People told me you will either, "Love it, or Hate it". I bought one and hate it. Will not work on my Darton Maverick. I shoot fingers and don't think that helps any. Couldn't use my 5" feathers. One inch of the feathers projected into the Biscuit when the arrow was on the rest. Obviously that wasn't going to work soI refletched down to 4". The veins would work marginally well, but they were inconsistent. Feathers on the otherhand were totally off the chart and there was no tuning to make them work. Frustrated, I finally pulledoff the Biscuit and used the center of it for the bullseye. Guess what??....It works great for that!!

RE: Whisker Biscut
I use the whisker biscuit and love it. I shot in a leauge and placed real good with the whisker biscuit. As for hunting its the best, hands free. the new biscuit upgrade where the arrow drops threw the rest the bristles are softer and seem to have no affect on the feathers. Im kinda leaning toward the muzzy zero affect but the price has to come down a bit before i buy. a 20.00 biscuit replacement is alot better then 90.00. Try it youll like it

RE: Whisker Biscut
I have one and for the money it is the best thing going. All the problems people have encountered are normal and nothing to have a cow about! Always problems with my arrows falling off my rest and that crap. Have someone set it that knows what they are doing!

RE: Whisker Biscut
i work part time for my buddy in his bow shop,we sell alot of whisker bisquits you must shoot cock feather up or your fletching will pass through the black whiskers.those whiskers are for arrow support they are much stiffer and denser.if you dont shoot cock feather up you will rip off vanes and arrow flight will not be proper.
|
RE: Whisker Biscut
well i gave in and bought one.....is there any house hold item that you can use for making it silent instead of buying their product...mine is pretty quiet but just in case i was wounderin.. i also have taken probly 100 shots and notice very little waves in the fletchings
|
RE: Whisker Biscut
after having it, i can't imagine using anything else. it hasn't given me one reason to consider switching. i just replaced the biscuit with the newer B2 i believe it's called, with the black and brown bristles for 17.50, can't beat that for a 'new rest'. it eliminates so many headaches and hassles that you have with other rests, and it's so simple and carefree to use. the wavy vanes after hundreds of shots are an acceptable trade off for the consistent performance and worry free moving and drawing.
