Help a Long Island Bowhunter
 

Hello all,

I am looking for a little help. I have recently transferred to Long Island New York. Bow hunting out here is very difficult. If there is anyone out there that hunts here or who has any information that can help me I would appreciate it. Hunting areas are few and far between. I just want to get outthereand hunt. Thanks!!

There's a local legend around here from Long Island...... His handle is Crack-Attack................. errrr...... I mean Rack-Attack :D

He owns a bow shop in the Long Island area and he has killed some monster bucks......... Look him up and shoot him an email.

Hey Coastieboy....look up Rack Attack (Chuck) at The Archery Forum in Middle Island. I don't know if he will tell you where to hunt but he isa good resource for Bow repairs and related equipment.

You can contact the DEC in Rocky Point, they have land to access and also contact Suffolk County Parks as they have some park land out east that you can hunt for a nominal annual fee. The hunting is not bad on either of these pieces, it's just a bit of a pain sometimes if someone is in the zone you wish to hunt. They limit the number of hunters per spot.

With regards to private land, good luck it is tough to find.

I'm from the catskill mountains(Woodstock NY)I can't offer any help with hunting area's down there.I have heard though that there are some very good hunting area's there and that some beautiful bucks are being taken.On parts of Long Island there are farms,you may want to do some investigating that way or see if there are any archery clubs in your area.Good Luck!
