Results of a Successful Hunt
Hey everyone,
Just returned from my big game trip to wyoming, hunted elk and antelope. Took me a few days to get w/in bow range of these walking binoculars. Heres the result of a few hard days of hunting, i hunted him for a few days so there is a before and after shot. According to my green scoring, hescores about 85, which puts him wellabove the P&Y min. He had 16 in of height. I killed him at 35 yds w/my hoyt Vtec, 125 grnrockey mt snyperson gold tippros, 72#. ![]() ![]() |

I think you choice of B. Heads is excellent-Been a Rocky Mtn. fan since they came on the market. Again, GREAT animal. |
RE: Results of a Successful Hunt
Outstanding! I've tried that and it is no easy task to get a goat in bow range. I was never successful anyway.

Heres some more hunt details:
I killed him in Gillette, WY. I had hunted hard doing spot and stalk for a few days with only one close call. As the week went on, the rut kicked in hard so the bucks were chasing does constantly. It dawned on me that doing so much running meant they needed more water than the usual morning/evening times. So i gave up the spot and stalk and set up a blind downwind from a water hole. Had another smaller buck show up first, but he wasnt so sure of my set up and kept his distance. As he started to commit this big boy came and chased him off. Thankfully he committed to the water and i drilled him at 35 yrds. You can see the mean entrance wound on the shoulder in the picture. He ran only 30 yrds and tipped over, this sold me the rockey mt snypers and I use them now for whitetail. The arrow flew deadly straight despite the long range and high winds. As he wobbled away i could see blood spraying out both sides at 50 yrds. So these heads do the trick. I had a complete pass threw the opposite shoulder blade as well. It was an awesome hunt, and i plan on getting him into the P&Y records, being it was my first antelope ever. |

RE: Results of a Successful Hunt
Awesome! Not too many people get a before and after pic of their animal! He's beautiful; what's a traditional mount look like on one of these? Is it your typical shoulder mount a la a whitetail?
