I am still kicking around the idea of getting one. I would really like to have one but I know that if I use it on the public land that I hunt then it will disappear within hours...

I would love to get one, but I have other items on my list that come first, and not enough money for most of them.

I agree with Nick. Mine will be out on Sunday after the season is over. I get the film developed in one hour cause I can't wait overnight. Nice to see the bucks that made it through the season. We watched the bucks grow their antlers last year. It'll stay out until September archery next year. I do worry about it being stolen, but it doesn't do me any good sitting in the house.

Like IroquoisArcher I plan on making my own sometime soon as I can't afford a "store bought" one. I have the plans printed off of jesse's hunting page, I just need to get my butt in gear.

Bow season here in Arkansasruns through the end of Feb so Ive got my Deer cam out now hoping to get one more deer before season runs out.If not maybe Ill get some idea of what survived the season to this point. Just a note I got my deer cam for about $140.00 at the catalog outlet (Bass Pro) in Springfield. The last couple times Ive been up there they have had at least two different brands and they will be about 1/2 price. Thats the onlyreason I got one.

I hope you guys all realize how addicting this is!! I pull the thing out to get the pictures developed and I can not get it back in the woods fast enough. Then I am not patient enought to send them in and get the cheap developing, I have to have one hour. Then I can't even make it out of the door of the store without looking at them. I find myself walking down the aisle looking at the pictures on the walk out. It is way to much fun to get pictures of the magnificent creatures.

Yep! I have 2 and I'm getting another. I have 17 pictures on the one as of yesterday, and I'll take whats on there on Sat. afternoon and go get them developed at Wal-mart. I've been doing this for 2 years now and I love it every time. Found wolf tracks on the property, I hope I shot him!!....with the camera!

Just built my first one and love it so far. I have had a bit of difficulty isolating the flash, but when that's corrected, I'll be ready to make another ! For about $100 each no less.

IL_BOW_MAN - do you have one piece of glass over your opening for the shutter and flash ? Do you always gets a flash spot on your pics ? I think refractions of light is causing it on mine and I made some adjustments today to correct it - either no glass or two seperate pieces might work better .....

I got my Deer-Cam from Cabela's for $279.95.
If I could find another for $140.00 I would definately get one. Even at $279.95 they are worth it.

Stealthy, the one I use is a Non Typ. Deer Cam. And it has seperate glass for the lens and flash. But on the inside they use some foam padding to sepperatre the flash from the lens. it is a little big so that when you close it, it compresses the foam.

RE: How many of you are planning on using Deer-Cams?

Just got my first roll of film developed got some pretty cool pics. Got one of a doe looking straight into the camera at about 24" away. Mine is a Non-typical brand deer cam takes real good quality photos and is not as expensive as some others. As for theft prevention, I dont know. I just try to put it up where a person would not be likely to set it off, like in thickets. I also try to keep an eye my property if I was to have problems with tresspassers I dont think I would put it up.

I don't have one, but my neighbor does. It's neat to see pics. It's added incentive if you don't see deer for a while. I know they are out there (my neighbor has the proof)

I've built two myself and am in the process of gather the parts for two more. I can build a nice unit for about $90.

Here's a link to Jesse's site that includes reviews of a lot of the commercial units plus plans to make your own.

Nope, I just don't see the need for it and can't really justify the cost of such a toy. Too many real hunting items end up on the wish list every year. The only time I ever considered it was to try and catch the thiefs stealing my deer stands.
