Deer Bed pics and question
Alright here's the deal. I found this water hole last spring while I was turkey hunting, there were 2 does wading and drinking. The pond is about 15 yards in diameter. It doesn't look like a soul has been here since I found it last spring (this is public land).
The beds shown in the pictures looked pretty fresh. Do you think this would be a daytime bedding area since it is so close to the water (90 degrees here this past week)? Also do you think I would be better off hunting it in the evening or the morning? At first I thought I would get in really early and hopefully catch them coming to drink before they bed down. I also thought about the evening, but I'm afraid this is an area they come to after a night full of eating. I will be hunting out of a ground blind regardless, I can't get a stand in any of the trees. Any idea are appreciated. Thanks. ![]() ![]() |

RE: Deer Bed pics and question
Hunt it middle of the day. be there by 10:00 and stay till at least 2:30. I don't know about your area but down here they come out of their bedding areas to get something to drink.

I'd be careful not to trounce around the bedding area. The deer might not come back. If the pond is small enough , set up opposite the bedding area. I personally stay out of the bedding area as to not spook the deer.
