Can't decide on a broadhead
I keep on hearing all these great things about these slicktricks. I've been using the spitfires and i'm new to bowhunting and shot my first deer with one last year. It was a complete pass through with a ton of blood but i went hog hunting and the spitfires got no penatration on hogs. I'm looking for a broadhead that I can use on deer and hogs. Any suggestions on which on the use?

RE: Can't decide on a broadhead
I would go with aftershock archery they got the new broadhead called the hypershock. Ive shot deer with them work great and I watched a show that they shot anything from turkeys up to buffalo with them check them out at aftershockearchery.com.

Look into the Grim Reapers if your looking for a mechanical...I shot a hog this past winter with one and hit it right in the grisle plate and got a complete pass thru and great blood...I don't have any experience w/ the Slick Tricks but alot of people really like them....GOOD LUCK

Check out my website www.broadheadtests.com read the mech vs fixed page along with the FAQ and tuning pages. These will help you make a more informed choice on what broadhead is best for your setup.

RE: Can't decide on a broadhead
Id get 6 for deer and 6 for hawgs.. All deep penetrators like G5 Montec, Simmons Landshark, Golden Key Deadhead Slicer, 3Rivers Wensel Woodsman,or the many Magnus heads....These are all one-piece heads.
Remember...Bow weight helps penetration, as does retained kinetic energy in an arrow...But so does broad head design. Gimmicky broadheads with too many blades, knobby ferrules and blunt tips dont typically penetrate all that well on tough animals....Id say the same holds true for expandables with over-flimsy blades and ferrules, questionable blade-locking mechanisms and jackknife actions can create penetration issues |
