Doe or buck for early deke?

What do you think? I bought a Mckenzie 3-D target that I'll be stashing in my pop up blind. Should I stick the antlers in or not during the early season and pre-rut?

I always use the antlers early since the bucks are running together still.

Depends on your ratio.it may help if the bucks are big enough to wanna come in on him or if thy are relatively small there then they may be intimidated. But early season should go well if you use the buck.During the pre rut and the rut I would use the doe only and the estrus bleat.this will draw in even the old bucks trying to get the first doe.

I would leave the antlers off. I have always had better luck attracting bucks and does with a decoy devoid of antlers.

I started using decoys 2 years ago. I generally prefer the buck decoy. Its a small 4 point and I take one antler off and position it where the antlerless side is where i want the deer to approach from. Any bucks investigating it usually will come around to the side w/o the antler. The most luck I have had is usually pre-rut using the grunt and buck urine.

I bought a "feeding doe" decoy and dislike it. The deer usually will start feeding towards it, but usually get wary and stop way short. I figure there noticing something isnt right b/c the decoy dosent have its head raised or moving. May work in combination with others, but I stickwith the more "alert" decoys as its normal for deer to raise its head and watch a new-commer come into the field.
