does anyone have any info on the dates for the peak rut in Maryland?

This year I read it was supposed to be the week of the 15th. That's Nov of course.

It's hard to tell. The 15th is a good guess but it depends on this crazy weather. I always shoot for the 15th but last year it was touch and go. I don't think it kicked in until the week of Thanksgiving. Do you best to get max time in the woods around that date and try to devote more time if you miss it.

I agree w/ both of them. VA is about the same. Last year was funky, and this year may be more of the same...

I definitely saw peak action last year during the week of Thanksgiving. It was too warm earlier that month. Of course the professionals were calling for an early rut. I know Photoperiodism is what dictates this phase but weather has to be a major variable.

If it's hot, I think they might just be getting it on at night. Otherwise, only the cooler temps (below 45 degrees F) will get the monsters running around carelessly during the daytime.

We had the rut in late October here last year. The bucks were going nuts...ended up missing on that was running around aimlessly.

ive seen the most action in the first 2 weeks of nov. Ive also seen bucks chasing does 1st day of rifle season. But between me and fello hunters its been late oct. early nov. Good luck to all this yr
