I contacted the DNR here in Va the other day with a few questions and C'mere deer being considered bait was one of them. His response in captilized and under lined bold print was ILLEGAL! He said that the product soaked in the ground and made the dirt become bait. I would definately check with the dnr. Most dnr websites have either contact numbers or email addresses. A simple call or email can save you a lot of trouble down the road.

I've tried similar products without much success and I know there is heavy deer travel through the area. I've seen some fawns occassionally digging through the dirt and eating some mouthfuls. I've actually had better luck just buying salt blocks. I dig a shallow depression, place the salt block in it, and bust it into four or five pieces with a hammer. I have seen several larger deer congregated around those during the summer.

We used the powder down here w/ no luck at all.I heard the liquid is better,but after the poor performance of the powder decided not to try it.We have never had luck with any mineral type attractants here..so that may make a difference.

Just got an email back from gfp, it is illegal in SD. If it is something they can consume it is considered baiting even if it is just a liquid or mineral.

Hummmm...........Maybe that lady I talked to didn't know squat. She told me it was........What do your reg's say about bait????

• No person may place or use bait for the purpose of taking deer.

"Bait" is defined as grain, fruit, vegetables, nuts, hay, or other

food transported and placed for the purpose of attracting or enticing

deer. This restriction does not apply to foods resulting from

normal or accepted farming, forest management, wildlife management,

orchard management, or similar land management activities.

• Liquid scents, salt, and minerals are not considered bait.

Your not transporting in food your attracting them to the food thats present. Is that baiting according to the MN DNR?

Here's what he sent me after telling me it was illegal. Sounds pretty grey to me.
