Default Muletail... Anyone?

Just wondering if anyone has ever killed a muletail. My unlce killed one about 6 years ago when I lived in Wyoming. We were pretty sure that's what it was right away. It had huge ears and a mule deer tail with a little bit lighter color and a white tail rack. We took it to the G&F and they reaffirmed our assumption and documented it. I've only seen one other deer that I'm certain was a muletail. I will see if I can dig up a pic of my unlces.

I've never killed one, or even seen one that was killed but I have seen them on our farm in North Central KS. Have seen bucks with mule deer racks and facesbut run like a whitetail and with a white tail up.

I shot this deer last year in southeast colorado. He has a lot of whitetail characteristics in his rack and a definite mulie body. I think that he is a cross between the two.

Let me know what ya think.

I would definitely say that is a muletail. The rack does look like a whitetail, but has mulie like characteristics as you said. A very neat animal and thanks for sharing LB.

Don't know about mulies and white tails, but here we get a mix of Mule deer and Black tails they are called Bench Legs.
