Scentblocker Question
 

I have a Scentblocker Outfitter Series suitand cap. I don't have any Scentblocker gloves or face mask but was wondering how much of a difference it is to use regular gloves and face mask? I do believe in complete body lock but I am short on funds at the moment. Thanks for your thoughts and I would appreciate it if no one bashes scentblocker because I know not everyone is a believer. Thanks.

If you leave anything uncovered it will be less effective. Your hands touch a lot of stuff on your way to and up a tree so I would think a lot of scent would be deposited. Stay clean, use a good scent eliminator on your gloves, and play the wind. Good luck.

Play the wind friend. The first thing IMHO a deer smells is the human breath.

Believe this. I do the scent free laundy soap, scent free bath soap, scent free storage bag, etc....

I saw 5 deer Saturday morning; only one didn’t snort and run off. I’m assuming the other 4 caught wind of me ‘cause I was well hidden and had a very large oak right beside me. There was no wind. I put my clothes I wore Saturday in a scent free bag. Saturday night I bought some scent blocker pants, no jacket. Sunday evening I went out with the exact same clothes with the exception of the pants and the wind picked up after I was sitting. I had 5 deer come from downwind and within 50 yards or less of my location and 1 from upwind. Read into it what you like, but I plan on buying a jacket when I have some $$$.

Get some cheap gloves and scent eliminator spray for them , then chew some green apple scented gum while on stand .

I think your head and face are the two most crucial areas to have some sort of scent elimination product used on. If the hat is scentlok then that might be sufficient with a regular facemask.

Roughly 1/3 of your odor is emitted from the head and neck. That is a small area sending off a lot of odor. Covering your head and face/neck with scentblocker hat a facemask will make a difference.

I always spray down my head and nexk and hands HEAVILY with Scent killer spray. I also rub Scent Killer body lotion thru my hair before leaving camp in the morning.

I would like to figure out a way to deal with my breath however, since I always brush my teeth, I assume the deer can smell the "minty freshness" and I'm not sure if this scares them or not.

I do know that this past Friday, I had a 3-4 year old Black Bear less than 15 yards downwind of me, and he did not seem to know I was there, until I tried to open the zipper on my camera case...then he scooted away 50 yards or so, but then continued on his way.
