opening day today in nebraska..went this morning..

i went this morning..parked my car on the side of the road..i look into the bean field about 25 head of deer standin there..only way to get to my stand is my goin through the field down the fence line..this is at 6 in the mornin by the way..neways of course i scare the deer off getting to my stand..i get to my stand thinking god finally i can get into my stand without scaring any more deer off..man was i wrong..:(..i start climbing my tree and about 10 deer that were beded behind my stand take off..i got sick to my stomache..i mean theres no other way i can get to my stand other without chasing all the deer out..there all directions around my stand and they bed down there..thats why i think its gonna be a evening place to hunt cuz i can get in there at about 5ish and stay in there till dark when the bed down..anyone have any thoughts on this?

Is there anywhere else you can hang a stand that is farther away from the bedding areas? It sounds like you are pretty close. If you can get a little farther away and catch them going to and from their bedding area without bumping them, it will be much better in the long run.

sounds like you should leave that alone for the mornings... and only go in in the afternoons for evening hunts.

Go earlier ,that many times gives them a chance to come back to their yummy field. I often in situations like that knowing they feed in a field go at like 2 or 3 am and settle in.I hunt 90% edges of fields.Worked last year again for me

I agree with Bob. 6 o'clock sound awfully late to be getting in to the stand especially this time of year. If sunrise was at 7:30 then maybe that would be a different story but I would shoot for at least 5 am.

like CD and PAbowhunter said it sounds like you should get there a little earlier when its completely dark and sneak in probably less likely to kick the deer out of their bed

I AGREE ON THIS, OR YOU MUST SLEEP THER,NO JUST JOCKING, MAYBE YOU COULD GET THEM FROM THE GROUND.
