I've heard about it...never known anybody to actually do it.
I do see a lot of dummies DURING the season in tree stands though, does that count (oh, the joys of public land) |

I heard about it....that and hanging a cloth in my stand to wave around and create movement for the deer to get used to it...never got around to it tho.

I've been thinking about doing it for the gun season, to keep TRESPASSERS off of my property when I am not hunting that area.

RE: Dummy's in treestands in offseason????
I've never done it, but when we baited black bears, years ago, my brother did it on his bait site. Of the four hunters he then was the only hunter to actually have ravens fly in and sit on the bait. The rest of us would see ravens fly over like they were interested, but they wouldn't land. So it at least fooled the ravens. He didn't get a bear off that bait, but he switched to my baitafter I'd scored.

Never done it myself either but it almost seems amusing. I am sure it works to an extent but then couldn't it also permanently spook a deer out of the area?

I work with a guy that manages a ranch in south TX and he says that they use a 1 gal. milk jug and put about 2 cups of water in it and cover it with camo tape and suspend it about where a hunters head would be and leave it all summer. He says that it will get the deer used to seeing small movement and sounds. I have never used it, but he swears by it. Chad
