New to Bowhunting
 

This will be my first year bowhunting. The season here in Louisiana starts tomorrow. I'm sure I will have a lot of questions as the season
progresses. Hope you all don't mind answering some beginner questions.

Welcome aboard. Glad to have you. There are many hear that will be happy to help you with any questions you may have.

I'll start though by asking you a couple of questions if I may. How long have you been shooting the bow and arrow? Have you established your maximum range? Have you been shooting your "hunting" points and have you practiced from your stand (if you plan to hunt from a elevated stand)?

I got my bow in this past March. I have a Mckenzie 3d target that I use to practice and just within the last few weeks have been consistently hitting the kill zone out to 30 yards. My problem is most of the time I can only practice in my backyard which the furthest I Can shoot is 12 yards. A friend of mine who has a large piece of property lets me practice there but it's about 40 miles from my house. I have shot my hunting points but mostly practice with field points. I will be shooting mechanicals and they fly just like my field points. I just purchased my climbing stand one month ago. I've shot from my stand only three times.I have practiced climbing with the stand a lot. Believe it or not I'm still getting over a fear of heights. But each time I climb a tree I get a little more confident
