Outback makes noise
Hey guys. Question for Outback owners, or anyone for that matter. I bought an Outback at the end of last season, been shooting it all year long. Love the bow, quiet and great shooter. A friend of mine owns an Outback as well. He started noticing a slight "tick" sound coming from the top cam a while back. It usually only occurs on the first time you draw the bow back after not shooting for a while. He took it to the shop and the local pro told him that there was a manufacturing flaw in the plastic bushings that house the axle. He said it had a burr on it and that it needed to be removed by sanding. So he did that to the bow. The sound was still there. He took it back and the guy replaced the bushing with a brand new one. The sound was worse. Well season started this past Sat here in my part of NC (saw one deer no shot though)and my buddy is just gonna hunt and worry about it later. My question is I have noticed my bow making the same "tick" lately. Maybe its been doing it and I haven't noticed until now. Who knows. The noise is very very slight almost un-noticeable...but it is still there. Is this something anyone else has experienced? Should I even worry about it? My friend is pretty miffed. Its the most expensive bow he's ever owned and even though it shoots fine and performs great he, like me thinks that it should be perfect. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Shoud I just by-pass the shop and contact Mathews when I address the problem on my own bow or what?

RE: Outback makes noise
Turtle my Outback does the same thing only mine does it everytime that I draw. Tell your buddy to make sure that the split in the bushing is pointed straight down and this should take care of the problem. My pro shop put new bushings on mine and it didn't help but if Iturn the bushingit stops. Give it a try and let me know if it works.

RE: Outback makes noise
I have a Q2 and it does the same thing. Do what gutshot said, and if you want, put one SMALL drop of oil , thats what i did. Cleared it up..

HMmmmm.... quality control????:)[8D][8D] Ya'll might also want to make sure the limb pockets haven't dried out. Brake the bow down and grease the limb pocket liberally. A click in the limb pocket can appear to come from the limb tip.

RE: Outback makes noise
Thanks for the suggestions guys.I did try a drop of Rem-oil and it did seem to lessen the noise. Have any of you heard anything about this being a manufacturing "defect"? Regardless, even with the noise my bow is still one of the quietist bows I've ever shot. This includes the Hoyt V-tec, Bowtech Liberty, and a couple of Parkers. I tried out all of these bows before buying the Outback. I just liked it more than any of the others. Bowtech was 2nd, Hoyt was 3rd in my choices... the Parker just didin't cut the cake for me. Have not shot the Switchback butwould love to.Thanks again for the suggestions.
