Elk hunting

I returned from my first elk hunting trip from Idaho and would like to say that I had a blast.I got a cow elk. I learned alot And it was a special because I got to go with my family and was also able to call in my father-laws elk for him.we used the "hoochie mama" from Primos and it worked like a charm. We seen alot of record class Mulies and I got to see a mountain lion.I'm become a bonified elk chaser. i got burned alot on some stalks,I got very frustrated.but at the same time it was a awesome feeling seeing the animals and hearing the bugles, and smelling them.I've been home for a couple of weeks now and all I can talk about is the trip.My wife and two little ones say that I'm obsessed about it,So I guess that they're right because I can't wait to return their to do it all over again!!!

Btpatriout02, I know exactly what you mean. Several years ago I went to Wyoming on my first elk trip. I was hooked immediately. I did however take a 6X5 bull with my bow at 33 yards. IT was the first one we heard and called him in. I hunted along with my partner and on the 5th day he shot a nice 6X6. We had 9 bulls under 40 yards and was into the middle of several herds at times. It's amazing and I truly wish I lived where I could hunt them every year. I promised myself I'll go again but for now, I stare at my bull mount on my wall and remember.
