Schools/Seminars

Hi guys,
Does anybody know of any hunting schools or seminars that would be good forsomebody who has never touched either a bow or a firearm? I'mNOT looking for a guide service but instead a school that would help before one needs a guide service. Location is not important. Thanks for the help. . . .

Possibly locate your state game commission or DNR. They may be able to get you started.

Go to a bow shop and buy a bow. Just start shooting. The bow shop, DNR and socializing will get you going. If your lucky, you will be taken under someone's wing and shown the ropes. If not, you will spend a lot of quality time in the woods making mistakes after mistakes but learning all the same. I wish you good luck. The last advice is save your money because before you know it you'll need to build an adition on your house to keep all of the extra garp you'll be buying.

Terry Wunderle. Rural Illinois, Mason City I believe. But he only excepts a handful of students each year. Supposed to be the best Compoundteacher out there. Read this past months September Field & Stream.

I believe The National Wild Turkey Federation holds events all over the U.S. They have archery, firearms and a lot of other outdoor things that you might be interested in. You might check with them.

Personally I think you could learn more from some of the locals at the bow shop.If they have a archery range then you canstart shooting there and get to know some of the people and I am sure they would steer you in the right direction. But knowing where you are at would help in sending you to the right place.

I know they have bow hunters safety courses in all countys in Wisconsin. That is a good place to start, but others are right, you will learn a lot more from someone who bow hunts regularly.
