Scoring Question???

This is a question i've been a little hesitant to ask cause it is somthing i thought i should know. I've read alot of books trying to figure it out but how exactly do you score a buck. I understand about adding tine length, and mass, but i'm still kinda confused. Thanks for any help

RE: Scoring Question???

The Pope & Young/ Boone & Crockett scoring is a process where the length of the main beams and up to7 tines on each beamare measured for length. The circumferance of each main beam is measured in 4 different places. The inside spread of the antlers is measured. This is added up and expressed in 1/8 in. increments. Then the length of any abnormal tines and any differences in dimension measurements between the left and right sides are subtracted from the total.
There is a worksheet that guides the whole process.

RE: Scoring Question???

In other words they are typically looking for a very symmetrical rack and then anything that takes away from that symmetry is deducted from the score....in essence.
