Got my Russian Boar Mount back today
 

This past May i went on my first Wild Boar hunt.As was fortunate to harvest a nice Russian Boar.So this is actually my first bow kill of the year.

My taxidermist did a Awesome job on it.I couldnt be happier with it.


It's not how big the Deer,But the size of the experiance that matters!!

OMG!!! Not what I expected! LOL That thing makes a bear look cuddly! LOL That is one mean looking hombre, carpetguy! Did you post the story on this hunt? Seems like it might be a good one. Jeeze, that thing almost gives me shivers looking at it! LOL

May I ask what that hog weighed? I am booked to hunt Russians the 7th - 11th of Oct. The palce I am going has no crossbreeds or ferals, just 100% Russians, I am wanting to take a 300lb or a little less, I have been on the phone nightly ,almost, with my soon to be guide and he assures me he can get me up to a hog of that size...we'll see. I am also going to be trying to take a Red Stag, they are weighing around 600lbs for a 3 year old or better Stag, and depending on genes, he said that they range somewhere between 5X5 and 7X7. He will not let anyone take a Stag less than 3 years old. Thats also a good looking mount. were his tusks actually that large?, I know that is just a jaw set, sometimes, I have been told they break them off alot.

I WENT ON A RUSSIAN SPLIT HAIR BOAR HUNT IN CORPUS CHRISTI. WHAT A BALL. SHOT ONE, SAW IT GO DOWN, WAITED, WENT TO SEE IF IT WAS DEAD, THE SUCKER GOT UP AND CHASED ME BACK INTO THE TREE. I GOT THAT SUCKER ON THE WALL.

ITS A GREAT HUNT, JUST BE CAREFULL. THEY ARE VERY MEAN

Here's a pic of the boar right after i took him.I wanted the tusks to be as close to the same length.I know some guys put in a larger set in the mount.I crawled about 50 yds on my hands and knees sometimes on my belly.To get up on him.I was getting pretty nervous once i was within 20 yds.I took the shot at 19 yds per the rangefinder.I was one exciting hunt.And i am going back in Feb with my Taxidermist,and possible another board member and his son.

What was the weight? How big was he, 5ft , 6ft or what?

Krisken-I went down to Paris IL.It's not a big outfit.But really super nice people.

Ben-This Boar weighed 160lbs about 5 foot.They are purebreds.They dont get huge.The biggest one taken they told me was about 270 lbs.I did go late actually in May.Jan - Feb is a better time to hunt them.A little heavier and better hair.I just love the mane on them.They also have Europeans.The bulk of the boars are in their chests and tapper down to the rump.There is hardly any fat on them.So they are alittle tough eatin,but good never the less.

man that thing would scare the bejebus out of me if i forgot i had it mounted on my wall and had to go to the washroom at night! that's one scarry hog that's for sure!
