RE: What are the best bows on the market?
I don't believe there is a single major bow manufacturer that doens't make a good bow. I'm sure many manufacs. make some cheaper models that aren't high quality. Which bow is best? That is the same as asking which truck is best, Chevrolet, Dodge, or Ford? There are no real answers, just opinions. Every bow manufacturer (like the truck manufacs.) has high points and weak points on their bows.
Now for my person opinion, I really like my Hornet made by Diamond. They are a small bow company in Louisiana and they make good quality bows. I've been very happy with mine. -------------------------------------------- Hunting the Piney Woods of Deep East Texas. |

RE: What are the best bows on the market?
Hey NY,
They all "brake" at some time or another. I have ben shooting HCA bows for several years and only one gave me ANY trouble. My cam bushing broke the day before the season opener and did a little more damage than the pro shop could fix in one day. The guy at the shop called High Country and they gave me a NEW bow as a loaner while mine was sent back for repairs. They didn't even charge me shipping and all work was done with no charge to me. I am not trying to start a fuss and if you had a bad experance with HCA Then I am sorry but It may have been the shop and not HCA that did you wrong. All I am saying is I have gotten good service from mine and my next bow will be a High Country just like my last three. Good luck this year. SF |

Used to buy a new one every year, shot all kinds and any of the companies that have been around for a while make a good product. Me I shoot Mathews now.

RE: What are the best bows on the market?
Is there any nice quick shooting bow set-ups for $400 or less out there. I've been shooting a Darton for a long time and will probably try to get a new bow around x-mas or right after this bow season. I like the Darton, but would like to get something that isn't a dinosaur.(My bow is about 15-20 years old)

RE: What are the best bows on the market?
This is a difficult question to answer. Now, BEAR in mind that I would never dare tell someone to use the same type bow as me. That would be too over BEARing on my part. So check out what others have stated and I'm sure the BEAR facts will tell the tail.
Oh, did I mention? Never go into the woods without a BEAR. Edited by - DeerThug on 09/29/2002 05:32:38 |

RE: What are the best bows on the market?
I currently own a Mathews Legacy and a PSE Nova. Both are excellent bows -- even if the Nova is one of PSE's entry level models. I have a friend who owns a Hoyt and he is quite happy with it. Most important is what YOU are happy with. Like it's been said in past replies, go to your local archery shop and try as many as you can to see which feels right for you.

For me, it's Merlin, Bowman, PSE Mach and Red Man. Don't have anything against the other brands. Which bow appeals to you and turns you on is the one to get. Sag. |

RE: What are the best bows on the market?
I've shot Hoyt bows only for 15 years. I shot them when they were cool, when they weren't cool, and now they apparently are cool again. I enjoy shooting a bow from a maker with so much history.
That being said, I believe that now, Hoyt, Matthews, and Bowtech make the best on the market. Check out the Hoyt Havoc and Cyber TEC bows, any of the Matthews, and the Bowtech Patriot. MOCraig |

RE: What are the best bows on the market?
There are a lot of great bows today and everybody has their own opinion of a fantastic bow. What you are comfortable with may not be comfortable in another bowhunters hands. I can not judge any other bow model because I never owned those models. But I have owned a variety of bows, Pro-line, Golden Eagle, Hoyt, and Matthews, and I dont favor any of them any more than the other. It all depends on the type of hunter, and what type of bow fits your special needs.

RE: What are the best bows on the market?
I've been trying to find a new bow that isn't a great bow, just to see if such a thing exists. So far, no luck. They all put the arrow right where you're capable of putting it. Some are faster, some are more forgiving, a few are made of better materials and some come with a better warranty, but they all have the potential to be just what you're looking for.
There is no one best bow for all situations and if there is a "best" manufacturer, it's not clear which one that is. I'm positive that it would vigorously debated by many experts without ever settling on just one. Your choices are many and fortunately almost all are good ones. To figure out the best for you, you'll have to try several and then decide for yourself. |
RE: What are the best bows on the market?
I think you will have luck with just about any of the bows available today. I will give my 2 cents about what I am shooting. I just got a new CSS Swampmaster and have to say that I am thoroughly impressed with its craftmanship and performance. After it was set-up the first arrow through paper was a bullet hole and had it sighted in no time.
Good luck in making your decision! |
