The wind factor!

The most important thing ? Well maby? So how EXACTLY do you work it? Everybody will agree that the deer want to walk into the wind. So how are you suposed to to stay out of their "down draft" ? I hear most people say the wind wasen't right so I did not hunt the stand. If you are feeling scent free then let them come? May it be this wind thing is BS! I do understand that you want to try to get on the downwind side of their crossing trail. Their smart enough to walk fence lines to not give you that shot. So do you set up and try to out "sence" them?

RE: The wind factor!

I just hunt the wind, period....... I only hunt with the wind in my face or at a crosswind........

I've heard it said that if a buck can't get the wind in his face, he will take a route that provides him the best visibility......... In other words, if he can't smell it, he will rely on his eyes in the open terrain to find danger...... I've never noticed it to be true, but then again I never hunt the open hardwoods either..........
