Honey Locust Trees & Deer

I heard that deer really love the pods from Honey Locust trees. Is that true?? I was just reading about the trees and it says they grow basically anywhere, but can be a pest because they spread so fast.

Does anybody have any experience with deer & these trees?

Yes, my property is littered with both black and honey locust. The deer eat the pods as I watch from my treestand. I don't know if they 'love' them, but I always see them eating them during hunting season. They definitely don't mind them.

When you see them on the ground pick one up and break it open. If it has lots of moisture inside the deer will probably be tearing them up.

Also on Primos Truth Bowhunting 1 they have a segment about honey locust and Will Primos said they it can be one of there favorite foods during the fall monthes.

Well, that would explain why I stillfind a lot of them chewed up and laying on the ground. The deermust have just been after the moisture in them.

No. Honeysuckle is a vine or a shrub, depending on variety, and Honey Locust is a large tree with flat, bananna sized pods that resemble very large brown snap peas. Black Locust have the same type of pod, but the tree is covered with large, dangerous thorns all over, including the trunk.
