Field point vs. Broadhead ... big problem here

ok guys i have another problem that i need some answers on except this one is a bit more of a problem....i was out shooting my bow today as i thought i should test one of my arrows with a broadhead on it to see how it would fly....OMG ... big problem....it hit the very edge ofthe target and went through in to the grass... i tried again...same thing....so then i aimed to the right of the target and i then hit the target....so its flying clear to the left but with field points its dead on.....maybe this isnt that big of a problem and theres a easy way to fix it but i kno nothing about this kind of problem so.. i need ur guy's help .....for some facts ... both my field points and broadheads are 125 grain i kno to keep those the same ... i'm gettin better at this archery stuff being my third year but i never encountered this problem before...the broadheads are fixed muzzys if that counts....last year i shot a doe for the first time with my bow and it hit low on the shoulder and came out in the perfect spot on the opposite side...i didnt pay no attention to that but maybe i shouldve...i need help thats all i can say... i'd appreciate ur guys help on this one... thx

Assuming you have the right set up for the arrow you're shooting, I'd say you're just terribly out of tune. You didn't give us any indication as to what arrow, poundage, draw length or anything you have. That's why I said "Assuming" you have the right set up. If they're grouping, but just not with the field points, it's a tune job. Stiff spines and all that sort of stuff can be tuned out. You're impacting way left. according to conventional wisdom you should move your rest towards the bow. Just a tiny bit at a time. Better yet, go to this link and download the Easton Tuning guide. It's got everything you ever wanted to know about arrow flight, impact, tuning etc. Read it, download it and print it if you want. It's handy while you're learning. You really need to recenter and check everything and start all over I figure if you're off by a foot or so. You gave us no indication of distance or anything. http://home.att.net/~sajackson/tuning_guide.pdf

Go to www.eastonarchery.com and download their tuning guide. It tells you how to broad head tune.

sry david... powndage is right around 65-70...arrows are easton 2216..i'm shooting both 125 grain field point and broadhead...draw length is same as my uncles condsidering i bought the bow off him .. i'm guessing around 29 ish.....one more thing if i move my arrow rest then my field point shooting will me messed up wont it?....a guy told me that i should have my broadheads tuned to my fletching except i'm not sure on wat that means but i kno my knocks probably should be... my opposite color fletching has to be pointed torwards teh inside to shoot right...i usually have the odd color down...but my knocks are glued .. can they be taken off and redone? thx again...

Shooting fingers cock feather out away from bow, shooting release cock feather down. Never heard of cock feather facing inside towards the bow. Someone is pulling your (cock feather).:DChange shops.

you might want to go with some one who shoots a lot and have them look at things

RE: Field point vs. Broadhead ... big problem here

I shoot 125 grain field points and 125 grain 3 blade Muzzys. My arrow, with BH GROUP slightly to the left of my FP. Notice I said GROUP. My bow is well-tuned and both FP's and BH's group closely, but at slightly different points of impact. Your problem is most likely a tuning issue and some good sites have already been offered. If your broadheads don't group with your fieldpoints, but DO group well, then adjust your sights for the BH since that's what you'll be using for hunting.

When the guy told you to tune your broadhaeads to your fletching: he was telling you the blades on your broadhead should line up with your vanes or feathers. Look down your arrow to see if the blades on the broadheads line up with the vanes. If they don't, you can heat up the area aound the insert with a lighter (with the broadhead in) and turn the broadhead until it lines up when the glue melts enough.

Are your vanes helical or straight on your shafts? If they are straight it may be causing your arrows to plane as they travel through the air. are your arrows flying at an angle or straight?

Many different things can be causing this to happen.

the aarows fly straight half way to the target then head to the left...the broadhead is lined up with the vanes...

I myself have had difficulty with the Muzzys and my bow is tuned in. Any one have anything to say about expandable heads? Been thinking of switching.

i thought i was having the same problem today when i first shot my broadheads today with my bow. the problem was that my vanes were hitting the arrow rest. after i got it figured out they were shooting very well, up until i started getting warn out then i didn't do that great.
