Tuning Questions
I've been working on tuning my bow. I striped the fletchings off of one arrow and have been shooting it through paper. I for the life of me can't get it to shoot a bullet hole. I eliminated the right/left tears, but it still tearing about an inch high. (tail higher than tip). I've moved the rest high and low, and neither way seems to diminish the tear. I figured that was just the way it was going to be and I put my broadheads on. (I'm trying Muzzy 3-blade 100's and Thunderhead 100's) Both of these heads hitting low. (about 4 inches). I am predicting that the b-heads hitting low has something to do with the high tear. Am I correct? Do you guys know of anything that I could try to eliminate the tear or just so the b-heads are hitting dead on? I've thought about shooting b-heads and moving the rest to make them hit on, but I'm not sure that is the best option. Should I try it, or is there something else I can try. Thanks in advance.

RE: Tuning Questions
I maybe wrong here as never shot bare shafts. But as I believe, you paper tune with fletched arrows and shoot bare shafts at 20 yds. at a target for groups, not paper.

RE: Tuning Questions
Correct. You don't paper tune with a bare shaft. :D

RE: Tuning Questions
If when shooting your broadheads your hitting low its obviously just a simple adjustment with the sight ..you always chase the arrow ..however if your arrow is kicking tail high and your adjusted your rest it might be you need to reset your knock on your string .... but sure sounds like a rest problem to me.

RE: Tuning Questions
DD...my sight is already sighted correctly for my fieldpoints. I need to get my bow tuned properly so my broadheads will hit where my fieldpoints hit.
Ok guys, appearently I was going about this whole tuning thing wrong. So how do I paper tune? Do I shoot fletched arrows through paper until there is just a center hole w/ 3 lines for the vanes? |
RE: Tuning Questions
308 it appears you must be fairly new to bow hunting so if I were you I would visit my local pro shop and have you bow tuned properly...if you listen to everyone on here including me you will most likely get ALL screwed up ...you need to have it shooting to the best of the bows capability ... the animal deserves that ...
