OMG i seen a bear 2day while i was squirrel hunting
 

I was walking along the road so i took the shell out of the 12 gauge. I heard something to my right and i put the shell back in it and turned the safety off. I seen it making alot of ruckus and stuff I shot in the air to scare it away and that just made it make more noice I shot in the air again and it stopped and just stood there. I started wakling off slowly then like started running... LOL

HEre in KY they have been trying to re astablish the bear population... I have seen quite a bit of them up here where i live. E ven in my front yard... lol.... This is one experience i wont foget..

Dont come to Montana. It is not unormal for me to see a grizz most days I elk hunt.Here in Montana dont worie about the bears stay cleer of the moose. They are 5 to 10 times more likly to try to run your but down.

Hunt in pairs, that way when a bear attacks, you just have to run faster than your partner;)

I see bears all the time I have been bluff charged more than once while moose hunting... not fun

This was the 1st time ive actually seen one out hunting..... Ive seem them out driving before tho

You do know that a bear is a predator and as such has an instinct to chase down anything that is running from it???????????????

Never Never run from a bear. No matter what it is doing. You are lucky the bear was uninterested in you.

A black bear I quess ??? It wasnt going to hurt you. Most black bears are not vicious. Running was the worse thing you could of done

I agree never run... at least not until after you throw $#!t in his eyes......and believe me turn around and look down and you will see a fresh hot steaming pile of $#!t that you can throw!:D

Yes ! I agree never run from a bear ,just walk slowly till he's a way's back and never take your eye's off the bugger .Most black bear's will run from you unless your a threat ,to her young one's .
I've seen many bear's while moose hunting and they generally will run from you if you surprise them.

Give the guy a break. He said he walked off slowly at first. Remember bears can't see very well. So before we jump on him, we should learn how far he walked slowly away before running. If he walked a 100 yards before running the bear probably didn't even see him.

I can't say for sure how I would react if I saw a bear in the wil because I have never seen one up close. I am sure I would be scared but I think I would be to scared to turn my back on him. I would probably shoot in the air to run him off if he was really close and then if he didn't leave I would put another shell in and keep the gun pointed at thim incase I had to shoot him or her.

Why take your saftey off because you hear something. Shouldint you identify your target before. And then you started shooting and you didint even know what the rustling sound was. Let me know if your ever hunting in northwest pa, Im gonna get out of the woods.

That what you get for using all those dampeners! I get nervous myself when I hunt in the mountains. i've gotten a couple pics on my gamecam of bears in the 4-500 lbs range and it is pretty thick with mountain laurels. I don't like surprises!e]

lmao....yea if I was deer hunting I would have been in the same situation as you but squirrel hunting is one of the few times that I actually carry a gun in the woods any more:D

Yeah. I swear I saw a black bear 30 min. SE of E'Town hunting turkeys this spring. Didnt have any witnesses and my dad thought I was seeing things. There definately down here.
